Want to Become a Mentee?

  • Do you ever feel like you have to hide your true self?
  • Are you confused about what kind of man you want to be?
  • And have you ever felt unsure about what you want to pursue in the future?

When you’re a teenager, these are some pretty heavy questions, and there are often no easy answers.

But if you choose to become a mentee, or one of our J-Men, as we like to call them, you can connect with positive male role models who can help you get to the bottom of all of this.

They’ll support you through your transition from adolescence into adulthood by sharing experiences and building friendships, while helping you connect with who you truly are so you can discover your unique strengths and gifts.

Become a Mentee

Our mentoring program includes three primary pillars:

Council Groups

Our Council Groups are the core of our group mentoring program, as they provide valuable opportunities for mentors and mentees to establish deep and lasting connections through open and honest sharing and team-building activities.

Outdoor recreation, skill-building workshops, volunteer-based service learning, and rites of passage weekends.

Rites of Passage

Intentional rites of passage have played an important role in many cultures for thousands of years, as a way to safely challenge young men and boys to consciously explore the men they wish to be.

These experiences can be incredibly empowering for our mentees as they transition into adulthood, making them one of the most important parts of our program.

How Will I Benefit if I Become a Mentee?

As one of our mentees, you’ll have the chance to connect with other young men and boys like yourself, developing strong bonds and possibly lifelong friendships.

You’ll also have the opportunity to build relationships with positive male role models who can show you what it takes for you and your fellow J-Men to mature into men of integrity.

How Do I Sign Up?

Journeymen is a non-profit organization, which means there is no cost to join our mentoring program.

But typically, you’ve got to be within 12-17 years of age to be accepted.

In some instances, we’ve accepted young men into the program who are 18 or 19, but as legal adults they have to go through our background screening process in order to be admitted.

That being said, if you’re not already an adult, the first step in the process is for a parent or guardian to contact us.

At this point, we’ll connect over the phone and follow up with an in-home visit where we’ll bring two mentors to talk about our mentoring program, and answer any and all questions that arise.

If you want to learn more, check out our Journeymen Mentoring page for more information, and if you’re ready to become a mentee, please work with a parent or guardian to fill out the forms below.
