Joel recently moved to Asheville and is a new addition to the Journeymen board of directors with much knowledge to share and a passion for seeing young men reach their full potential. Hailing from Wisconsin, Joel has spent 34 years working with community non-profit organizations, helping with fundraising efforts and strengthening their alumni associations.

He found a love for this work at Wisconsin Leadership Seminars, teaching Wisconsin youth leadership skills and diversity training, and has also played a key role in expanding the National Society for Youth Leadership program in Chicago.

Longing for the outdoors away from the city, Joel formed Evergreen Community Initiatives, a community organization and warming shelter in Stevens Point, Wisconsin, which still serves that community today.
