At your age, these are some very tough questions, and if you don’t have a positive male role model to help you sort this stuff out, it can be very overwhelming.
Unfortunately, in today’s world, many young men like you don’t have anyone to look up to in this way.
But through our transformative mentoring programs, we can provide the guidance and support you need to discover your inner strengths and gifts, build self-confidence, plan for your future, and learn how to overcome life’s challenges, so you can become the man you want to be.
Whether you’re joining us as a mentor or a mentee, at Journeymen, you’ll get to be a part of something special.
You’ll have the opportunity to talk about what pisses you off, what scares you, and what makes you sad.
You can talk about the bully at school, the confusion that comes with dating, and even the times when you want to just pack it in and forget about everything.
More importantly, you’ll also be listened to by mentors, and other young men and boys just like yourself.
Your opinion and feelings will be valued, because you are valuable. You are unique and amazing as a person, and you are not alone!
We can all learn from each other together, and we are all connected in some way, whether it’s through our stories, our struggles, or our successes.
But here’s the real payoff…
If you do choose to join one of our mentoring programs for young men, you’ll start to learn more about yourself, and start making better choices that create more happiness and less trouble.
What’s more, you can make friends that accept you for who you are, and not what you can give them.
You’ll have people in your life who will support you, listen to you, guide you during difficult times, and praise you for just being who you are.
When you talk about what’s going on and listen to others doing the same, you take a chance, as it takes courage and bravery to open yourself up.
That being said, you don’t have to trust us, and that decision is up to you and you alone.
With that in mind, we create safe opportunities for all our J-Men to express themselves, listen to others, and then decide for themselves whom they should trust.
We share everything from what we’re feeling to how we struggle with life, how sometimes we make decisions that hurt ourselves or others, and everything in between.
And when you hear other people talking openly about themselves in this way, you’ll know whether or not you can trust them.
Have you ever heard of an initiation?
In this context, the definition of an initiation is “An event that serves to mark a passage from one stage of life to another.”
Do you see where we’re going with this?
You are moving from the boyhood stage to the manhood stage in your life, and that’s a pretty big leap.
But is anyone helping you make that change?
It’s not easy trying to do this alone, and that’s why we put a focus on initiations, like our Rites of Passage Adventure Weekends (ROPAWs).
Our ROPAWs take place over the course of a weekend, which could quite possibly be one of the most important experiences of your teenage years.
This experience will connect you with positive male role models and help you to discover your strengths and gifts (everyone has at least one), and gain a greater sense of direction in your life.
These Rites of Passage are also a lot of fun for all of us, as it’s a time for both men and boys to connect with one another in a way we could never do in mixed company.
